Mazda X3 overview
The auto-maker BMW came out with the BMW X3 in 2004 and it was the second BMW vehicle after the X5 to be marketed as a Sports Activity Vehicle. Prior to the launch of the X3, a concept vehicle called the xActivity was displayed by the auto-maker in the Auto Show held in Detroit in 2003. It is a compact crossover SUV and is currently in its second generation. The first generation of the BMW X3 was designed in collaboration with Magna Steyr belonging to Graz in Austria. The production of the second generation of the BMW X3 was transferred to the Spartanburg plant belonging to BMW in South Carolina, USA.
The overall length, height and width of the BMW X3 models comes out to be 183.3 inches, 66.5 inches and 75.1 inches. The X3 provides seating for 5 people and is available in two engine variants. With the dohcl6 engine, the city/highway mileage comes out to be 19/25 MPG. With the turbocharged dohcl6 engine, the city/highway mileage comes out to be 19/26 MPG. The maximum trunk size is approximately 1600 Litres and the fuel tank capacity comes out to 67 litres.
The BMW X3 is available in two variants- X3 xDrive28i and the X3 xDrive35i. Both the models come equipped with 8-speed automatic transmissions. The front and rear suspensions in both the 28i and the 35i editions of the automobile are independent. The sound systems of both models include an AM/FM radio and Cd players. A few other standard features present in both models include cruise control, power windows, power mirrors, front heated seats, alarm systems, airbags, traction controls, stability controls and side curtains. The sunroof and navigation systems are optional in both models.
A number of warranties are available for both the 28i and the 35i models. The warranties are inclusive of the general, powertrain, perforation corrosion, roadside assistance, maintenance option and the emissions warranties. These 5-door machines respond to the slightest twitch of the steering wheel by the driver of these massive machines. The entry level BMW X3 is the xDrive 28i and it comes with 240 horsepower. The uplevel xDrive35i is turbocharged and comes equipped with 300 horsepower. The maximum speed achieved by both the models is 210 kmph. It takes 7.1 seconds for the 28i to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. In contrast to this, the 35i model requires only 5.8 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h.
